SMaRT® Garage Services is a social enterprise run by registered charity, First Step Trust. We deliver expert repairs, trusted servicing and affordable MOTs whilst creating real-world training and job opportunities for people overcoming significant barriers such as long-term unemployment, learning difficulties, mental health challenges, recovery and a history of offending, to help them take practical steps towards independence.

Our Woolwich-based garage our experienced and qualified technicians work on a wide variety of makes and model vehicles, providing services to both individual drivers, local businesses and fleet customers.

Our garage is more than just an automotive vehicle repair centre – it’s part of a movement for fair work, second chances and ethical business. Your booking directly supports local people to learn, train and rebuild their confidence to help them re-enter employment, become an apprentice or go to college!

All our workforce learns and trains alongside fully qualified mechanics, whose support and guidance helps them gain a better understanding of vehicle mechanics.

Whilst we are a professional business, our garage set-up enables us to set industry standards and expectations early on and provide each member of our workforce with a learning style and pace that suits their needs. We aim to understand everyone’s goals and assist in creating a practical plan to help them achieve that.

We partner with local businesses to provide work trials to our workforce with the hope they can move into an apprenticeship and then full-time employment.
