REFERRAL PARTNERS
Information for partners and charities looking to refer learners onto our courses.
We work closely with a range of referral partners to reach adults who can benefit from our courses and support. Our partners include government organisations such as the DWP, probation services, local charities, and small community groups.
By collaborating with these organisations, we can connect with individuals who are disadvantaged, vulnerable, or looking to take their first steps toward learning, work, and personal development. This network ensures that referrals are made thoughtfully, with the right support in place, helping participants feel confident and welcomed from the very beginning.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU REFER SOMEONE FOR A COURSE?
When you refer someone to First Step Trust for one of our courses, we make the process simple and supportive. Our friendly team contacts the individual directly to confirm and book them into their chosen course and assess any needs, interests, and support they might require to fully engage in the course. We ensure they feel welcome and confident before they start. We keep you updated at key points so you know how the person is progressing, while respecting their privacy. Our goal is to create a smooth, positive experience that helps participants gain new skills, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their future.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU REFER SOMEONE FOR A PLACEMENT?
Once a referral for a work placement is made, our team contacts the individual for a quick assessment and then invites them into our site for an interview, which the referral partner is welcome to sit in on. Once accepted onto a work placement, we provide ongoing support and regular check-ins during the placement, so both the participant and the host organisation feel supported. We work closely with referral partners to ensure the experience is positive and constructive. Updates are provided as needed, and we encourage feedback to continually improve outcomes. Our aim is to help participants develop real-world skills, confidence, and connections that will benefit them long-term.

First Step Trust offers bespoke training sessions that can be delivered at your location, using our equipment or yours. We provide a range of courses designed to build skills and confidence, including Driving Ambition, Food Hygiene, VR Training, and pre-CSCS preparation. Our experienced trainers bring a supportive and engaging approach, ensuring participants gain practical knowledge and feel confident applying their new skills.
