HIRE OWEN
Owen is a 1969 Renault Estafette van purchased by First Step Trust in 2015, with the intention of putting him back on the road to help generate income, assist in covering running costs and providing more sustainable employment opportunities for workforce members.
ABOUT OWEN
Owen is named in memory of Stuart Owen, a former First Step Trust employee, responsible for setting up the first SMaRT Garage in Salford in 2005. In 2011, Stuart left First Step Trust to head up a community organisation in Scotland.
Sadly, Stuart passed away in April 2014 during a volunteer mission to clean up a local beach.
The original idea for Owen was to retain as much patina as possible, the opposite of which soon became very apparent!
Despite the extensive rust under the paint, over 95% of the original metal was kept. And with the generous help of sponsors (and a donor vehicle!), Owen was resealed, repainted and rebuilt to his current condition.
To this day, Owen remains only one of 2 roadworthy 1969 Renault Estafette vans in the UK! And is now available for hire for events, functions and attractions! To find out more, please contact woolwichsales@smartgarageservices.co.uk
